Israel Frees Hundreds of Prisoners as Truce Expiration Draws Near
Israel has released 224 Palestinians from its jails as a gesture of support towards Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president. Most of those freed on Monday were affliated with Abbas’s Fatah party, which is a signatory to peace negotiations with the government in Tel Aviv.
